1. Cross-linked Profilin:actin - A tool to study actin dynamics in non-muscle cells
Sammanfattning : The microfilament system, consisting of actin and a number of auxiliary proteins, is fundamental for cell motility. Its dynamic organization depends on receptor-mediated signals, leading to rapid polymerizations and depolymerizations of actin. LÄS MER
2. In the wake of deglaciation - sedimentary signatures of ice-sheet decay and sea-level change : Studies from south-central Sweden and the western Arctic Ocean
Sammanfattning : Lacustrine and marine sedimentary archives help unravel details concerning the withdrawal of large ice sheets and resulting sea-level changes during the last deglaciation (22 -11 kyr). In a series of four manuscripts, this PhD thesis investigates the sedimentological signatures from deglacial processes at three key locations in the northern hemisphere: (i) Lake Vättern (LV) in south-central Sweden, (ii) Herald Canyon (HC) in the western Chukchi Sea, and (iii) Mackenzie Trough (MT) on the westernmost edge of the Canadian Beaufort Shelf. 4. Giant cell arteritis. Epidemiological, morphological and molecular genetic studies
Sammanfattning : Giant cell arteritis (GCA) is a chronic inflammatory disorder of unknown etiology, affecting large and medium-sized arteries, predominantly in postmenopausal women. Its pathogenesis is probably multifactorial. Several studies suggest that GCA is an antigen-driven disease. LÄS MER
5. Occultism and Traditionalism: Arturo Reghini and the Antimodern Reaction in Early Twentieth-Century Italy
Sammanfattning : The thesis will aim to analyse the interaction between occultism and different facets of modernity in early twentieth-century Italy, focusing on the figure of Arturo Reghini (1878-1946) as a case study.
