  1. 1. Mechanical strength of pharmaceutical compacts : Importance of material characteristics, particle characteristics and compaction pressure on interparticulate bonding structure

    Författare :Åsa Adolfsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacy; FARMACI; PHARMACY; FARMACI; galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics;

    Sammanfattning : Factors considered important for the interparticulate bonding structure and mechanical strength of pharmaceutical compacts were studied in this thesis.Fractures appear to propagate mainly around rather than through grains during strength testing. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Drug transport across cells and cell membranes in the human body is crucial for the pharmacological effect of drugs. Active transport governed by transport proteins plays an important role in this process. A vast number of transport proteins with a wide tissue distribution have been identified during the last 15 years. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Engineering of Pharmaceutical Particles : Modulation of Particle Structural Properties, Solid-State Stability and Tabletting Behaviour by the Drying Process

    Författare :Jonas Berggren; Göran Alderborn; Graham Buckton; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutics; particle engineering; microcrystalline cellulose pellets; intragranular porosity; convective drying; tabletting behaviour; spray-dried composite particles; amorphous lactose; PVP; heat and moisture-induced crystallisation; glass transition temperature; Galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics; Galenisk farmaci; galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics;

    Sammanfattning : Relationships between stresses during the drying process, particle structural and functional properties, and particle engineering by the drying process were addressed in this thesis. In the first part, the importance of the drying phase and the effect of the drying rate on the intragranular porosity of microcrystalline cellulose pellets were investigated. LÄS MER

  4. 4. New Concepts in Administration of Drugs in Tablet Form : Formulation and Evaluation of a Sublingual Tablet for Rapid Absorption, and Presentation of an Individualised Dose Administration System

    Författare :Susanne Bredenberg; Christer Nyström; Carla Caramella; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutics; Interactive mixture; Dose homogeneity; Disintegration; Bioadhesion; Oromucosal delivery; Sublingual tablet; Rapid absorption; Individual dosage; Drug dispensing device; Galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics; Galenisk farmaci; galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents two new concepts in oral drug administration and the results of evaluation of some relevant formulation factors.Investigation into improving the homogeneity of mixtures for tableting indicated that it may be possible to obtain interactive dry mixtures of micronised drugs containing drug proportions as low as 0.015% w/w. 5. 5. Tabletting behaviour of aggregates : Mechanistical conception and modulation by variations in aggregate physical properties

    Författare :Barbro Johansson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacy; FARMACI; PHARMACY; FARMACI; galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics;

    Sammanfattning : The volume reduction mechanisms involved during compression of aggregates prepared from microcrystalline cellulose particles and effects of variations in their physical properties on their compression behaviour and compactability were studied in this thesis.The dominating volume reduction mechanisms during compression of aggregates prepared of MCC were deformation (bulk deformation and local deformation) parallel with densification, and generally the degree of fragmentation of the aggregates was minute.
