  1. 1. Phylogenetic Support and Chloroplast Genome Evolution in Sileneae (Caryophyllaceae)

    Författare :Per Erixon; Bengt Oxelman; Sean Graham; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Biology; Phylogenetics; Bayesian inference; Bootstrapping; cpDNA; Sileneae; Interspecific chloroplast recombination; Hybridization; clpP; Positive selection; Extreme substitution rates; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : Evolutionary biology is dependent on accurate phylogenies. In this thesis two branch support methods, Bayesian posterior probablities and bootstrap frequencies, were evaluated with simulated data and empirical data from the chloroplast genome. LÄS MER

    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Silene; Elisanthe; Melandrium; Conoimorpha; Caryophyllaceae; Silene multinervia; relative dating; extreme substitution rates; phylogeny; BEST; BEAST; cpDNA; mtDNA; RNA polymerase; RPA2; RPB2; RPD2; SlX1; SlY1; ITS; introgression; incongruent phylogenies; chromosome count; coalescent; Bayes Factors; Systematics and phylogenetics; Systematik och fylogeni; systematisk botanik; Systematic Botany;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on phylogenetic relationships among some of the major lineages in Silene subgenus Behenantha (Caryophyllaceae) using DNA sequences from multiple, potentially unlinked gene regions from a large taxonomic and geographic sample. Both traditional phylogenetic analyses and a strategy to infer species trees and gene trees in a joint approach are used. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Genetic and environmental factors in relation to childhood type 1 diabetes mellitus aetiology and clinical presentation in Sweden and Lithuania

    Författare :Vaiva Sadauskaite-Kühne; Johnny Ludvigsson; Knut Borch-Johnsen; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Type 1 diabetes mellitus; children; environmental factors; aetiology; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Background. Incidence of Type I diabetes mellitus (DM) is increasing worldwide. It is affecting mostly young people, with the dramatically rising incidence among youngest children (those under age of 5 years). LÄS MER
