  2. 2. Choosing environmental policy instruments : Case studies of municipal waste policy in Sweden and England

    Författare :Åsa Maria Persson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :municipal waste policy; environmental policy instruments; environmental policy; Sweden; England;

    Sammanfattning : European governments have during the last couple of decades shown an interest in new types of environmental policy instruments (EPIs) such as environmental taxes, tradable permit schemes and voluntary approaches, as opposed to relying on traditional forms of regulation. The interest in so-called ‘new’ EPIs (NEPIs) has led many governments to commit both to a more diverse EPI mix and to a policy process characterised by procedural rationality, in terms of considering a wide range ofalternative instruments and assessing them in a systematic and transparent way. 3. 3. Research and reflections on European air pollution policy support models

    Författare :Stefan Åström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Economic perspectives; Decomposition analysis; Policy support modelling; Short-lived Climate Pollutants; Climate metrics; Air pollution; International shipping; Economic methodology; Integrated assessment modelling; Cost-benefit analysis;

    Sammanfattning : European emissions to air of SO2, NOx, PM2.5, NH3 and NMVOC still today cause harm to human health and the environment. These pollutants are associated with the premature death of ~400 000 people annually in the EU (25 000 perished in traffic accidents 2017). Improvements are expected but problems will persist.
