  1. 1. The Epigenetics of Gene Transcription and Higher Order Chromatin Conformation

    Författare :Vijay Kumar Tiwari; Rolf Ohlsson; Terumi Kohwi-Shigematsu; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Developmental biology; DNA-protein interactions; Nuclear organization; Transcriptional regulation; Higher order chromatin conformations; Epigenetic reprogramming; Utvecklingsbiologi; Developmental biology; Utvecklingsbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : It is becoming increasingly clear that long-range control of gene expression is mediated through direct physical interactions between genes and regulatory elements, either intra- or interchromosomally. In addition to transcriptional initiation, formation of active chromatin hubs seem to be crucial for increased transcriptional efficiency as well as insulation from neighbouring heterochromatic environment. 2. 2. Epigenetic Regulation and Reprogramming of the H19 Imprinting Control Region

    Författare :Piero Mariano; Rolf Ohlsson; Karl Ekwall; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Developmental biology; Imprinting; chromatin; H19; Igf2; CTCF; Insulator; methylation; Boris; Utvecklingsbiologi; Developmental biology; Utvecklingsbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The development of a new individual from the fertilized oocyte can ultimately be seen as the consequence of the establishment and maintenance of specific patterns of gene expression. Although regulation of gene activity occurs at different levels, cellular specialization and differentiation are the results of developmental cues that essentially take place at the transcriptional level. 3. 3. Transcriptional and Epigenetic Regulation of Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition

    Författare :E-Jean Tan; Aristidis Moustakas; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Geert Berx; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TGFβ; EMT; HMGA2; Snail; Twist; E-cadherin; epigenetics; invasion; Molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology;

    Sammanfattning : The transforming growth factor beta (TGFβ) is a cytokine that regulates a plethora of cellular processes such as cell proliferation, differentiation, migration and apoptosis. TGFβ signals via serine/threonine kinase receptors and activates the Smads to regulate gene expression. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Computational modelling in systems biology: from rewriting cell fates to detecting tumours

    Författare :Emil Andersson; Centrum för miljö- och klimatvetenskap (CEC); []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Beräkningsmodeller; Systembiologi; Genreguleringsnätverk; Cellomprogrammering; Energilandskap; iPSC; Agentbaserad modellering; T-cellsutveckling; Maskininlärning; Tumördiagnostik; Computational modelling; Systems biology; Gene regulatory network; Cell reprogramming; Energy landscape; iPSC; Agent-based modelling; Multi-scale modelling; T-cell development; Machine learning; Tumour diagnostics;

    Sammanfattning : Computational modelling is becoming an increasingly important tool in biological research. By performing computer simulations of models, it becomes possible to test theories about a biological system against experimental data. Simulations can also be used as a replacement for experiments otherwise unattainable. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Epigenetic Regulation of Higher Order Chromatin Conformations and Gene Transcription

    Författare :Anita Göndör; Reinald Fundele; Thomas Graf; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Developmental biology; Genomic imprinting; Chromatin; Epigenetics; Cancer; Developmental biology; Utvecklingsbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Epigenetic states constitute heritable features of the chromatin to regulate when, where and how genes are expressed in the developing conceptus. A special case of epigenetic regulation, genomic imprinting, is defined as parent of origin-dependent monoallelic expression. LÄS MER
