  1. 16. Trends and exposure of naturally produced brominated substances in Baltic biota - with focus on OH-PBDEs, MeO-PBDEs and PBDDs

    Författare :Karin Löfstrand; Lillemor Asplund; Åke Bergman; Adrian Covaci; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Batlic Sea; Natural production; OH-PBDE; MeO-PBDE; PBDD; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; miljökemi; Environmental Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The semi-enclosed and brackish Baltic Sea has become heavily polluted by nutrients, anthropogenic organic and inorganic chemicals via human activities. Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) have been thoroughly investigated due to their linkage to toxic effects observed in Baltic biota. There has been far less focus on semi-persistent pollutants e. 2. 17. Cob(I)alamin as a Quantitative Tool for Analysis, Metabolism and Toxicological Studies of Electrophilic Compounds : Butadiene Epoxides, Glycidamide and Sucralose

    Författare :Hitesh Vijay Motwani; Margareta Törnqvist; Bernard T Golding; Johanna Haglund; Wolfgang Buckel; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; Environmental Chemistry; miljökemi;

    Sammanfattning : Vitamin B12 can be reduced to cob(I)alamin [Cbl(I)], which is one of the most powerful nucleophiles known and referred to as a “supernucleophile”. Cbl(I) was applied as a tool in toxicological studies of the air pollutant 1,3-butadiene (BD), the toxicant acrylamide (AA) present in many foods, and the artificial sweetener sucralose. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Organohalogen contaminants in Greenland shark (Somniosus microcephalus)

    Författare :Anna Strid; Åke Bergman; Maria Athanasiadou; Shinsuke Tanabe; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; persistent organic pollutants; sub-Arctic; Iceland; shark; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; miljökemi; Environmental Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The remote sub-Arctic/Arctic environment has due to human activities become a sink for organohalogen contaminants (OHCs). These OHC include traditional contaminants such as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), DDTs and technical mixtures of polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), all included in the Stockholm Convention list of persistent organic pollutants (POPs). 4. 19. Improved basis for cancer risk assessment of acrylamide from food : Determination of glycidamide in vivo doses

    Författare :Anna Vikström; Margareta Törnqvist; Kirsi Vähäkangas; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; miljökemi; Environmental Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Acrylamide is formed in heat processing of many common foods. According to animal cancer tests acrylamide is a carcinogen. To estimate the cancer risk from exposure via food, the response at high doses in the cancer tests with rats has to be extrapolated to the exposure levels in humans. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Chemoinformetics for green chemistry

    Författare :Tao Liu; Tomas Öberg; Ian Nicholls; Bert van Bavel; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; QSPR; PLS; Chemometrics; Chemoinformatics; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; Environmental Chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the development of quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSPR) models for physicochemical properties, e.g., vapor pressure and partitioning coefficients. Such models can be used to estimate environmental distribution and transformation of the pollutants or to characterize solvents properties. LÄS MER
