Sammanfattning :
Small intestine neuroendocrine tumors (SI-NETs) and lung carcinoids (LCs) are relatively indolent tumors, which originate from neuroendocrine (NE) cells of the diffuse NE system. Metastases can spread before diagnosis. Thus, potential cures become unavailable, which entitles new biomarker development. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning :
Diabetes is recognized by hyperglycaemia and polyuria. Complications, reduced quality of life and staggering health-care costs are all derived from the disease. Two subclasses of diabetes are Type 1 diabetes (T1D) and Type 2 diabetes (T2D). LÄS MER

Type 1 diabetes (T1D), Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (HT), Graves’ disease (GD), and autoimmune Addison’s disease (AD) appear to share immunogenetic mechanisms. This idea is not novel, as “autoimmune tautology” is an established concept. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning :
Dietary fat quality influences the risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. A low-grade inflammation is suggested to contribute to the disease development, often accompanied by obesity. Whereas n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) have been considered anti-inflammatory, n-6 PUFA have been proposed to act pro-inflammatory. LÄS MER
