21. Cellulose Dissolution and Amphiphilicity : Insights on the Emulsion Formation and Stabilization
Sammanfattning : An amphiphilic polymer is expected to adsorb at the oil-water interface and be capable of stabilizing emulsions. Cellulose derivatives, cellulose nanoparticles and regenerated cellulose particles show an intrinsic amphiphilic character by self-assembling at oil-water interfaces and stabilizing emulsions without the aid of surfactants or any other co-stabilizers. 22. Water-based hydraulic fluids : rheology and elastohydrodynamic lubrication
Sammanfattning : Experiments have been carried out to measure traction, antiwear and rheological properties of water-based hydraulic fluids. Four types of fluids have been examined, emulsions, micro-emulsions, synthetic solutions and water-glycols. LÄS MER
23. Emulsion formation and stability - Impact of the dispersed state of the emulsifier on emulsification
Sammanfattning : Emulsions find a variety of applications in for example food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical preparations. In order to obtain emulsions with desired properties it is important to understand how different factors, such as the properties of the emulsifier and the emulsification procedure, impact the final emulsion properties. 24. Water-in-diesel emulsion and microemulsion fuels: composition, structure and effect on emissions
Sammanfattning : Water-in-diesel fuels, as emulsions and microemulsions, give reduced emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter (PM) in combustion in diesel engines compared to regular diesel. These fuels can contribute to an improved local environment in densely populated areas as they can replace regular diesel in existing vehicles without any engine modification requirements. LÄS MER
25. Fat metabolism during total parenteral nutrition: A biochemical and ultra-structural study
Sammanfattning : This thesis evaluates alterations in lipid metabolism and Kupffer cell morphology seen during total parenteral nutrition in healthy rats. During infusion of lipid emulsions, cholesterol and phospholipids accumulated in non-high density lipoproteins, while high density lipoproteins were enriched in triglycerides. LÄS MER
