11. Measurements of Angular Correlations in Minimum Bias Events and Preparatory Studies for Charged Higgs Boson Searches at the Tevatron and the LHC
Sammanfattning : Studies of minimum bias events at colliders probe the behavior of QCD in the non-perturbative regime. The phenomenology of events in this regime is described by empirical models that take many parameters, which all need to be tuned to the observed data. LÄS MER
12. Search for Charginos and Sleptons in ATLAS and Identification of Pile-up with the Tile Calorimeter
Sammanfattning : The standard model of particle physics (SM) describes the elementary particles and their interactions. Supersymmetry (SUSY), a symmetry beyond those included in the standard model could resolve some of the SM shortcomings. It can provide a candidate for Dark Matter and a solution to the hierarchy problem. LÄS MER
13. Isospin Breaking in Kaon Decays to Pions
Sammanfattning : The five different K -> 3 Pi and the three K -> 2 Pi decays are calculated in Chiral Perturbation Theory. The calculation is done using different approximations, to study whether this changes the result significantly. First the isospin approximation is used. Discrepancies are then found between theory and experiment. LÄS MER
14. A search for leptoquarks with the ATLAS detector and hardware tracking at the High-Luminosity LHC
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a search for pair-production of scalar leptoquarks, decaying into third-generation particles, using proton-proton collisions delivered by the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and recorded by the ATLAS detector. It also presents the development of a hardware track trigger for the Phase-II upgrade of the ATLAS experiment. LÄS MER
15. Top Quark Pair Production in ATLAS
Sammanfattning : The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at the international particle physics laboratory CERN in Switzerland is currently the most powerful particle accelerator on earth. This thesis presents analyses of proton-proton collisions at the energy √s = 7 TeV, recorded by ATLAS, one of the detectors at the LHC. LÄS MER
