1. Microscale Tools for Sample Preparation, Separation and Detection of Neuropeptides
Sammanfattning : The analysis of low abundant biological molecules is often challenging due to their chemical properties, low concentration and limited sample volumes. Neuropeptides are one group of molecules that fits these criteria. Neuropeptides also play an important role in biological functions, which makes them extra interesting to analyze. LÄS MER
2. Endothelial function during ischemia-reperfusion and effects of inhalation of nitric oxide
Sammanfattning : The vascular endothelium is an important regulatory organ in circulatory physiology and plays a central role in the response to acute inflammation and ischemia/reperfusion. Activation and dysfunction of the pulmonary vascular endothelium are closely related to clinical findings of pulmonary dysfunction. LÄS MER
3. Integration of Surface Acoustic Wave and Microfluidic Technologies for Liquid-Phase Sensing Applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis discusses a new concept for construction of a novel SAW in-liquid sensor employing surface acoustic wave resonance (SAR) in a one-port configuration. In this concept, the reflective gratings of a one-port SAW resonator are employed as mass loading-sensing elements, while the SAW transducer is protected from the measurement environment, reducing power losses significantly. 4. On the Performance of Long-Range Autonomous Underwater Vehicles : Enhancing the Endurance of AUVs
Sammanfattning : Autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) are robotic platforms that are commonly used to gather environmental data, provide bathymetric images, and perform manipulation tasks. These robots are used not only for scientific, but also for industrial and military purposes. LÄS MER
5. Semiconductor Nanowires: Characterization and surface modification
Sammanfattning : The topic of III-V nanowires is still, after more than two decades, a growing and lively research area. The areas of application are wide and contain such important topics as energy harvesting, cheap and efficient lighting, high efficiency detectors and new types of electronics. III-V materials offer properties superior to the widely used Si. LÄS MER
