  1. 1. Modelling the early to mid-Holocene Arctic climate

    Författare :Marit Berger; Arne Johansson; Rodrigo Caballero; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Arctic; early Holocene; mid-Holocene; climate modelling; paleoclimate; sea ice; climate change;

    Sammanfattning : In the recent past it has become evident that the Earth's climate is changing, and that human activity play a significant role in these changes. One of the regions where the ongoing climate change has been most evident is in the Arctic: the surface temperature has increased twice as much in this region as compared to the global average, in addition, a significant decline in the Arctic sea-ice extent has been observed in the past decades. 2. 2. Tephra horizons in the North Atlantic region during the Early Holocene

    Författare :Ewa Lind; Stefan Wastegård; Margareta Hansson; Britta Sannel; Victoria Smith; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Tephrochronology; geochemical composition; Saksunarvatn Ash; Vedde Ash; Fosen Tephra; Askja-S; palaeoclimate; Younger Dryas; Early Holocene; “XRF ITRAX”; sediment geochemistry; stable isotopes; Faroe Islands; Norway; Sweden; kvartärgeologi; Quaternary Geology;

    Sammanfattning : Uncertainties about the rate and magnitude of future climate change have drawn attention to the climate variability following the Late Glacial-Early Holocene transition, c. 12-8 ka BP. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Submerged Landscapes in the Hanö Bay : Early Holocene shoreline displacement and human environments in the southern Baltic Basin

    Författare :Anton Hansson; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Submerged landscapes; Baltic Sea; Southern Sweden; Geoarchaeology; Mesolithic; Early Holocene; Environmental reconstruction; Shoreline displacement;

    Sammanfattning : During times of lower global sea level, vast areas of the coastal shelf were exposed and converted into ecologically diverse coastal landscapes that wereattractive for human occupation. The landscapes were subsequently flooded during the deglaciation, but well-preserved remains of these landscapes andtheir inhabitants can today be found on the seafloor. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Late Weichselian and early Holocene changes of vegetation, climate and sea level on the Skagi peninsula, northern Iceland

    Författare :Mats Rundgren; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; asthenosphere viscosity; glacial loading unloading; marine polar front migrations; sea-level change; climate change; vegetation change; Early Holocene; Late Weichselian; Iceland; Lake sediments; Skagi peninsula; Geology; physical geography; Geologi; fysisk geografi;

    Sammanfattning : Sediment sequences from five lakes on the Skagi peninsula, northern Iceland, were subjected to mineral magnetic analysis, carbon analysis, pollen analysis, plant macrofossil analysis, diatom analysis, radiocarbon dating and tephra analysis in order to make detailed reconstructions of vegetation, climate and sea level during the Late Weichselian and Early Holocene. The main purpose was to investigate if the dramatic deglacial climatic shifts recorded in proxy records from the North Atlantic region, such as ice cores, marine sediments and lake sediments, also are registered in Skagi lake sediments, which would be expected considering Iceland´s position in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean, within the range of the Late Weichselian–Early Holocene migrations of the marine polar front. 5. 5. Environmental and climatic aspects of the early to mid Holocene calcareous tufa and land mollusc fauna in southern Sweden

    Författare :Björn Gedda; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; southern Sweden; environment; climate; Early Holocene; Calcareous tufa; mollusc; Skåne.; Geology; physical geography; Geologi; fysisk geografi;

    Sammanfattning : Although deposition of freshwater calcium carbonates, tufa, has occurred in large areas with carbonate soil or bedrock in Sweden, no tufa formation has been observed in Sweden. To better understand the factors controlling tufa formation in southern Sweden, bio- and lithostratigraphical studies were carried out on (paludal) calcareous tufa deposits in the province of Skåne.
