  1. 1. Active Flow Control for Drag Reduction of Heavy Vehicles

    Författare :Mohammad El-Alti; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Active and Passive Flow Control; Tilt-rotor wing; Large-eddySimulation; Heavy vehicles; optimization; Full-scale road test; Trucks; Bluff-body; Wake; Drag reduction; Aircrafts; Response surface methodology; Synthetic-jet Actuator;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis considers the aerodynamics of trucks. The work focuses on the aerodynamic drag caused by the wake. Bluff-body flows are dominated by large dissipative vortex-shedding wakes with a low mean pressure compared to the high pressure on their frontal area. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Particle-fluid interactions under heterogeneous reactions

    Författare :Thamali Rajika Jayawickrama; Kentaro Umeki; Nils Erland L. Haugen; Matthaus Babler; Muhammad Aqib Chishty; Henrik Ström; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Stefan flow; drag coefficient; Nusselt number; Sherwood number; particle-fluid flow; reacting flow; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Particle-fluid flows are involved in many natural processes and industrial applications; some examples are drying, solid fuel combustion, gasification, and catalytic cracking. It is vital to understand the phenomena involved in particle-fluid flows in depth for design, predictions and process improvements. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Particle-fluid interactions under heterogeneous reactions

    Författare :Thamali Rajika Jayawickrama; Kentaro Umeki; Henrik Ström; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Stefan flow; drag coefficient; particle-laden flow; reacting flow; Energiteknik; Energy Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Particle-laden flows involve in many energy and industrial processes within a wide scale range. Solid fuel combustion and gasication, drying and catalytic cracking are some of the examples. It is vital to have a better understanding of the phenomena inside the reactors involving in particle-laden flows for process improvements and design. 4. 4. Implementation and Analysis of Air-Sea Exchange Processes in Atmosphere and Ocean Modelling

    Författare :Björn Carlsson; Anna Rutgersson; Ann-Sofi Smedman; Öyvind Saetra; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sensible heat flux; Latent heat flux; Momentum flux; Wind stress; Marine boundary layer; Air–Sea interaction; Swell; Climate model; Ocean model; Roughness parameter; Drag coefficient; Wave breaking; Meteorology; Meteorologi;

    Sammanfattning : To understand and to predict the weather and climate, numerical models are important tools and it is crucial that the controlling processes are described correctly. Since 70% of the global surface is covered with water the description how the ocean and atmosphere communicates has a considerable impact. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Active Flow Control for Aircrafts and Heavy Vehicles

    Författare :Mohammad El-Alti; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Trucks; Drag reduction; Bluff-body; Large-eddy Simulation; Wake; Tilt-rotor wing; optimization; Aircrafts; Heavy vehicles; Active and Passive Flow Control; Response surface methodology; Synthetic-jet Actuator;

    Sammanfattning : Bluff-body flows are dominated by large dissipative vortex-shedding wakes with low mean pressure compared to the high pressure on their frontal area. This induced pressure difference is the major contribution to the total aerodynamic drag. LÄS MER
