  1. 1. Toward an understanding of the barriers to and facilitators of dietary change

    Författare :Petra Rydén; Linda Hagfors; Ylva Mattsson Sydner; Lars Lindholm; Christina Bergh; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Dietary change; Healthy eating; Barriers; Facilitators; Dietary indexes; Diet cost; Food prices; Social relationships; Qualitative interviews; Mediterranean diet; Celiac disease; Children; Domestic science and nutrition; Hushålls- och kostvetenskap; Kostvetenskap; Food and Nutrition;

    Sammanfattning : Healthy dietary changes would be beneficial for society, as the economic burden of diet-related diseases is massive, and for the individual, who would reduce their risk of ill health. However, it is not easy to change dietary habits. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Coping with environmental change : Lessons from isotope studies in a sentinel species

    Författare :Matias Ledesma; Agnes Karlson; Marleen De Troch; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; stable isotope; compound-specific nitrogen stable isotope analysis; trophic niche; harmful algae blooms; contaminants; stress; reproductive success; environmental change; Baltic Sea; marin ekologi; Marine Ecology;

    Sammanfattning : Adaptive evolution and phenotypic plasticity are two key mechanisms by which natural populations avoid extinction in the face of environmental change. Evolutionary young systems, such as the Baltic Sea with low species diversity and steep environmental gradients, are good models for studying how wild populations cope with environmental changes, such as climate-induced alterations in food supply and exposure to environmental contaminants. 3. 3. Forecasting chemical exposure in a changing world

    Författare :John D. Hader; Matthew MacLeod; Ian Cousins; Mark Huijbregts; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; global change; exposure modelling; dietary change; wastewater treatment; chemical fate and transport; Environmental Sciences; miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Exposure to anthropogenic chemicals in natural and built environments is a threat to humans and other species. Now and through the 21st Century, the world will experience a large number of global changes, including anthropogenic climate change, shifts in demographics, agricultural expansion, socioeconomic development, and an increasing number and volume of chemicals on the market. 4. 4. Dietary fibre production from oat hulls

    Författare :Eva Schmitz; Bioteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Oat hulls; Dietary fibre; Chemical composition; Bleaching; Pre-treatment; Enzyme synergy;

    Sammanfattning : The current threats of climate change connected to the unsustainable consumption of fossil resources paired with an increasing world population demands the exploration of alternative raw materials for the production of food, fuel and specialty chemicals. Agricultural waste streams present suitable sources due to their availability in large quantities at low costs without competing with current food production. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Promoting dietary change. Intervening in school and recognizing health messages in commercials

    Författare :Hillevi Prell; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; health promotion; dietary intervention; food choice; attitudes; beliefs; school lunch; home and consumer studies; fish consumption; television food advertising; health discourse;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis was to examine influences on dietary change among children and adolescents with particular emphasis on individual factors, the school setting and food marketing. The Theory of Planned Behaviour was used to develop a controlled school-based intervention with a focus on fish among 8th grade pupils in the Gothenburg area. LÄS MER
