  1. 11. Design Moves : translational processes and academic entrepreneurship in design labs

    Författare :Luca Simeone; Katarina Wetter Edman; Malmö högskola; []
    Nyckelord :design studies; interaction design; design management; academic entrepreneurship; translation; design moves; modes of translation; strategic ambiguity;

    Sammanfattning : This study investigates the relation between the design activity and entrepreneurial ambition of three academic labs: MIT Senseable City Lab, metaLAB (at) Harvard, and Medea at Malmö University. These labs are positioned at the borderland of academic research, as they operate in connection with external stakeholders (industry, NGOs, government institutions) through, for example, joint strategies of intellectual property management or the creation of start-ups. 2. 12. Expansive design for teachers : An activity theoretical approach to design and work integrated learning

    Författare :Dennis Augustsson; Åsa Mäkitalo; Thomas Winman; Anne Edwards; Högskolan Väst; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Participatory design; Activity theory; Expansive learning; Teaching; Professional development; Education; Work Integrated Learning; Arbetsintegrerat lärande; Utbildningsvetenskap; Educational science;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores how Participatory Design (PD) and Cultural Historical Activity Theory (CHAT) can be combined and used as a theoretical framework and methodology in a professional development activity for teachers. A shift in the way we view teachers, from implementors to designers who actively construct, invent, and develop the practice of schooling also calls for changes in teacher education and professional development activities. 3. 13. Design for Perception - A human-centric approach to the design of driving automation systems based on the driver’s perception

    Författare :Fjolle Novakazi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; design method; human-centric design; human factors.; mental model; driving automation; cognitive engineering; understanding; empirical research; design tool; perception; levels of automation; mixed-methods research;

    Sammanfattning : The automotive industry is rapidly developing driving automation systems (DAS) with the aim of supporting drivers by means of the automation of longitudinal and lateral vehicle control. As vehicle complexity increases and update-over-the-air features are enabling continuous development of vehicle software and functionality, the driver’s understanding of their responsibility and their vehicle’s capabilities and limitations is becoming significantly more important. 4. 14. Aesthetic Flexibility : In Industrial Design Practice

    Författare :Torbjörn Andersson; Johan Ölvander; Renee Wever; Toni-Matti Karjalainen; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; industrial design; product development; product modularity; product branding; and dual decision-making.;

    Sammanfattning : Competition among companies that produce complex or large product portfolios has created a need to use modularity strategies not only to flexibly manage technical complexity in a cost-effective manner but also to produce visually appealing products. This research aims to understand how the visual appearance of products is affected by modular product development strategies and creates coherent product brands. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Three perspectives on supply chain design

    Författare :Håkan Aronsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; logistics; supply chain management; design variables; constructs; concepts;

    Sammanfattning : As companies increasingly cooperate with and rely on other companies to compete on a global market, the concept of supply chain management and logistics is gaining interest, from practitioner as well as researchers. Studies of high-performing companies, such as Benetton, Toyota and Nissan report that these organizations take a strategic view of the whole process of supply from original sources of material to end customers, achieving more efficient operations management and more effective strategic management.
