  1. 1. Utilization of Decomposition Techniques for Analyzing and Characterizing Flows

    Författare :Christian Carlsson; Strömningsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Decomposition techniques; Proper orthogonal decomposition; Dynamic mode decomposition; Extended dynamic mode decomposition; Swirl switching; Swirling flow; Low swirl burner; Fluid-structure interaction;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the utilization of two different decomposition techniques, proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) and dynamic mode decomposition (DMD), for enhanced understanding of flow structures and their stability. The advantages of these techniques are shown for a range of flow situations, most of which are turbulent. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Electricity markets operation planning with risk-averse agents: stochastic decomposition and equilibium

    Författare :Nenad Jovanovic; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; decomposition techniques; market equilibrium; risk-averse agents; stochastic optimization;

    Sammanfattning : The growing penetration of renewable energy sources in electricity systems requires adapting operation models to face the inherent variability and uncertainty of wind or solar generation. In addition, the volatility of fuel prices (such as natural gas) or the uncertainty of the hydraulic natural inflows requires to take into account all these sources of uncertainty within the operation planning of the generation system. 3. 3. Boundary integral methods for Stokes flow : Quadrature techniques and fast Ewald methods

    Författare :Oana Marin; Anna-Karin Tornberg; Anita Layton; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; boundary integral; Stokes flow; quadrature rule; Ewald decomposition;

    Sammanfattning : Fluid phenomena dominated by viscous effects can, in many cases, be modeled by the Stokes equations. The boundary integral form of the Stokes equations reduces the number of degrees of freedom in a numerical discretization by reformulating the three-dimensional problem to two-dimensional integral equations to be discretized over the boundaries of the domain. 4. 4. Distributed resource allocation in networked systems using decomposition techniques

    Författare :Björn Johansson; Mikael Johansson; Daniel Palomar; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Telecommunication; Telekommunikation;

    Sammanfattning : The Internet and power distribution grids are examples of ubiquitous systems that are composed of subsystems that cooperate using a communication network. We loosely define such systems as networked systems. These systems are usually designed by using trial and error. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Spectral Image Processing with Applications in Biotechnology and Pathology

    Författare :Milan Gavrilovic; Carolina Wählby; Ewert Bengtsson; Ingrid Carlbom; Robert Murphy; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; color theory; light microscopy; spectral imaging; image analysis; digital image processing; mathematical modeling; estimation; noise models; spectral decomposition; color decomposition; colocalization; cross-talk; autofluorescence; tissue separation; prostate cancer; biomedical applications; molecular biotechnology; histopathology; Computerized Image Processing; Datoriserad bildbehandling;

    Sammanfattning : Color theory was first formalized in the seventeenth century by Isaac Newton just a couple of decades after the first microscope was built. But it was not until the twentieth century that technological advances led to the integration of color theory, optical spectroscopy and light microscopy through spectral image processing. LÄS MER
