1. Nanocomposite films for corrosion protection
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes technical and scientific aspects of new types of composite films/coatings for corrosion protection of carbon steel, composite films with nanometer thickness consisting of mussel adhesive protein (Mefp‐1) and ceria nanoparticles, and polymeric composite coatings with micrometre thickness consisting of conducting polymer and ceria nanoparticles in a UV‐curing polyester acrylate (PEA) resin. The influence of microstructure on corrosion behaviour was studied for a Fe‐Cr‐V‐N alloy containing micro‐sized nitrides with different chemical composition spread in martensitic alloy matrix. 2. High temperature corrosion in a biomass-fired power boiler : Reducing furnace wall corrosion in a waste wood-fired power plant with advanced steam data
Sammanfattning : The use of waste (or recycled) wood as a fuel in heat and power stations is becoming more widespread in Sweden (and Europe), because it is CO2 neutral with a lower cost than forest fuel. However, it is a heterogeneous fuel with a high amount of chlorine, alkali and heavy metals which causes more corrosion than fossil fuels or forest fuel. LÄS MER
3. Beyond Breakaway Corrosion: Secondary Corrosion Protection of Iron-based Alloys
Sammanfattning : Metallic materials intended for high temperature applications must resist both mechanical and environmental degradation. The ability to withstand corrosion is an important aspect of high temperature materials and is of major concern in, for example, heat and power production. LÄS MER
4. Beyond Breakaway Corrosion: Investigating the Secondary corrosion protection of Iron-based alloys
Sammanfattning : High temperature corrosion of metallic materials remains a major challenge for many in-dustrial applications. The challenges of high temperature corrosion are often addressed by using highly alloyed materials such as stainless steels or FeCrAl alloys. LÄS MER
5. Nanoscale studies of the atmospheric corrosion of copper protected by ultrathin organic films
Sammanfattning : Copper (Cu) has been utilised by humans for millenniums and has become an indispensable metal in modern industry and in our infrastructure. However, corrosion, as a natural process for metallic materials, takes place on copper surfaces in most environments. LÄS MER
