  1. 1. Essays on Consumption : - Aggregation, Asymmetry and Asset Distributions

    Författare :Mårten Bjellerup; Jan Ekberg; Katarina Juselius; Växjö universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Aggregate consumption; Aggregation; Asymmetry; Wealth distribution; Income distribution; Concavity; Permanent Income Hypothesis; Buffer stock saving; Precautionary saving; consumption; saving; Euler equation; error correction; skew-t distribution; gamma distribution; dispersion; non-linear model; durable goods; nondurable goods; household level data; consumption function; marginal propensity to consume; current resources; consumption expenditure; life-cycle model; univariate test; multivariate test; Sweden; Economics; Nationalekonomi; Economics; Nationalekonomi;

    Sammanfattning : The dissertation consists of four self-contained essays on consumption. Essays 1 and 2 consider different measures of aggregate consumption, and Essays 3 and 4 consider how the distributions of income and wealth affect consumption from a macro and micro perspective, respectively. 2. 2. Essays on managerial incentives and product-market competition

    Författare :Giancarlo Spagnolo; Handelshögskolan i Stockholm; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation consists of four self-contained essays primarily concerned with incorporating the objectives of real world top managers, as revealed by the available empirical evidence, in supergame-theoretic analyses of long-term competition between oligopolistic firms. The first essay, "Ownership, Control, and Collusion", considers how the separation between ownership and control affects firms' competitive attitudes when top managers have the preference for smooth profit streams revealed by the evidence on "income smoothing" and when managerial compensation has the low pay-performance sensitivity found in many empirical studies. 3. 3. Stochastic Event-Based Control and Estimation

    Författare :Toivo Henningsson; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; event-based control; event-based estimation; sporadic control; stochastic control; stochastic hybrid systems; sum-of-squares methods; control over networks; quantized measurements;

    Sammanfattning : Digital controllers are traditionally implemented using periodic sampling, computation, and actuation events. As more control systems are implemented to share limited network and CPU bandwidth with other tasks, it is becoming increasingly attractive to use some form of event-based control instead, where precious events are used only when needed. 4. 4. The Maximum Principle for Cauchy-Riemann Functions and Hypocomplexity

    Författare :Abtin Daghighi; Stefan Borell; Christer Kiselman; Egmont Porten; Juergen Leiterer; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hypocomplexity; hypoanalytic structure; CR functions; maximum principle; weak pseudoconcavity;

    Sammanfattning : This licentiate thesis contains results on the maximum principle forCauchy–Riemann functions (CR functions) on weakly 1-concave CRmanifolds and hypocomplexity of locally integrable structures. Themaximum principle does not hold true in general for smooth CR functions,and basic counterexamples can be constructed in the presenceof strictly pseudoconvex points. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Testing for Rationality, Separability and Efficiency

    Författare :Per Hjertstrand; Nationalekonomiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Revealed preference; Regional convergence; Rationality; Nonparametric; NONPAR test; LP test; GARP; Efficiency; Data Envelopment Analysis DEA ; Afriat’s Theorem; Bootstrap; Swofford and Whitney test; Weak separability;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis aims to propose, evaluate and apply test procedures for rationality, weak separability and efficiency. In particular, it focuses on nonparametric revealed preference procedures. LÄS MER
