  1. 1. Secondary ice production : An empirical formulation and organization of mechanisms among simulated cloud-types

    Författare :Akash Deshmukh; MERGE: ModElling the Regional and Global Earth system; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ice; collision; ice production; ice enhancement; secondary ice; sublimation; fragmentation;

    Sammanfattning : Clouds are essential elements within Earth's atmosphere, posing a challenge for cloud-resolving models in understanding the creation of new cloud ice particles from existing ice and liquid phases. Such ice initiation determines cloud microphysical and radiative properties, influencing cloud phase, precipitation and cloud extent/properties. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Fluid Dynamics in Gas-Liquid Stirred Tank Reactors: Experimental and Theoretical Studies of Bubble Coalescence

    Författare :Rahman Sudiyo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Computational Fluid Dynamics; Turbulence; Buoyancy; Bubble Coalescence; Multiphase Flow; High-Speed Video Imaging; Particle Image Velocimetry; Collision Mechanisms;

    Sammanfattning : This work deals with studies of bubble coalescence in turbulent flows of gas-liquid stirred tank reactors. Coalescence plays an important role in determining bubble size distribution, on which flow and mass transfer in such reactors largely depend. LÄS MER

  3. 3. A methodology for operations-based safety appraisal of two-lane rural highways : Application in Uganda

    Författare :Godfrey Mwesige; Harilaos Koutsopoulos; Basil Psarianos; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :passing zones; passing rate; collision risk; accepted gap; time-to-collision; passing sight distance; two-lane rural highways; Uganda; Transportvetenskap; Transport Science;

    Sammanfattning : The majority of the road infrastructure in developing countries consists oftwo-lane highways with one lane in each travel direction. Operational efficiency of these highways is derived fromintermittent passing zones where fast vehicles are permitted by design to pass slow vehicles using the opposite traffic lane. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Improved Cloud Parameterization in Global Climate Model : Aerosol effects and secondary ice production mechanisms

    Författare :Arti Jadav; MERGE: ModElling the Regional and Global Earth system; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cloud; Coud parameterization; Primary ice mechanisms; Secondary ice production; Global climate model;

    Sammanfattning : The response of clouds to the changes in climate is uncertain, and the representation of the cloud-climate feedback is a key challenge in the global circulation models (GCM) for future climate projections. Factors contributing to this uncertainty include processes that involve particles of various sizes and phases, as well as the interactions between these particles and the surrounding atmosphere. 5. 5. Synthesis of complex organics via molecular growth mechanisms : Combined experimental and theoretical studies on ion-neutral reactions of C2H2N+ with ubiquitous hydrocarbons in Titan's ionosphere

    Författare :Pantea Fathi; Wolf Geppert; Paul Scheier; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Astrochemistry; Complex molecules; Ion-neutral reactions; Mass spectrometry; Planetary and satellite atmospheres; Titan; kemisk fysik; Chemical Physics;

    Sammanfattning : To provide insights on the molecular growth mechanisms leading to large carbon and nitrogen-bearing species in Titan’s ionosphere, laboratory measurements of ion-neutral reactions were conducted and the results are presented in the following doctoral dissertation. The product ions of the C2H2N+ reactions with saturated and unsaturated neutral hydrocarbons have been investigated using Guided Ion Beam Mass Spectrometer (GIB-MS). LÄS MER
