1. Towards Automated Support for the Co-Evolution of Meta-Models and Grammars
Sammanfattning : Blended modeling is an emerging paradigm involving seamless interaction between multiple notations for the same underlying modeling language. We focus on a model-driven engineering (MDE) approach based on meta-models to develop textual languages to improve the blended modeling capabilities of modeling tools. LÄS MER
2. Hybrid E-learning for Rural Secondary Schools in Uganda : Co-evolution in Triple Helix Processes
Sammanfattning : For the last two decades, a number of policies aimed at increasing participation of female students in higher education have been implemented by Uganda Government. However, the participation of female students in the engineering courses in Makerere University, Uganda’s biggest University, has remained between 17% to 20% only. LÄS MER
3. SEA CHANGE : Social-ecological co-evolution in Baltic Sea fisheries
Sammanfattning : Sustainable management of natural resources requires an in-depth understanding of the interplay between social and ecological change. Linked social-ecological systems (SES) have been described as complex adaptive systems (CAS), which mean that they are irreducible, exhibit nonlinear dynamics, have interactions across scales and are uncertain and unpredictable. 4. Towards a sustainable automotive industry : experiences from the development of emission control systems
Sammanfattning : From the mid-1970s and on, the contribution to air pollution of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides from gasoline passenger cars in the developed world has been reduced through co-evolution of regulation and commercial introduction of catalytic emission control technology, now part of hundreds of millions of cars, trucks and buses worldwide. This dissertation is a disaggregated study of the global introduction of catalytic emission control technology as a measure to reduce local air pollution. LÄS MER
5. Aposematism, Crypsis and Population Differentiation in the Strawberry Poison Frog
Sammanfattning : Evolutionary transitions between the two major predator avoidance strategies aposematism and crypsis are expected to be associated with changes in many important traits of animals. However, empirical studies on populations experiencing ongoing or recent transitions between these strategies are rare. LÄS MER
