21. Plasmonic Nanostructures for Optical Absorption Engineering and Hydrogen Sensing
Sammanfattning : Nanoplasmonics concerns the interactions between light and metal nanoparticles. In this thesis nanoplasmonics is used in two different ways: i) to control and enhance light absorption, and ii) for optical hydrogen sensing. LÄS MER
22. Elovl3 and very long chain fatty acids; role in metabolism
Sammanfattning : Fatty acids (FA) are important in several aspects of cellular function, for example as structural molecules and metabolic substrates. The bulk of FA up to 16 carbons (palmitic acid) in length are synthesised by a cytosolic enzyme complex called fatty acid synthase (FAS), while FA can be further elongated into very long-chain fatty acids (VLCFA) by membrane-bound enzymes in the endoplasmatic reticulum (ER). 23. Hydrogen diffusion and ion implantation in silicon carbide
Sammanfattning : Secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) has been employed tostudy the spatial distributions resulting from mass transportby diffusion and ion implantation in single crystal siliconcarbide (SiC). By a systematic analysis of this data, fundamental processes that govern these phenomena have beenderived. LÄS MER
24. Fractured Rock Masses as Equivalent Continua - A Numerical Study
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, fractured rock masses are treated asequivalent continua for large-scale analyses of rockengineering projects. Systematic developments are made for thedetermination of equivalent mechanical and hydraulic propertiesof fractured rock masses using a hybrid discrete fracturenetwork - distinct element method (DFN-DEM) approach. 25. Functional diversity of zooplankton in marine food webs : Integrating DNA metabarcoding and network modeling
Sammanfattning : The oceans are important regulators of the Earth’s climate system by sequestering carbon from the atmosphere taken up by primary producers. Zooplankton, including protozoans and metazoans of different phyla and size classes, occupies several trophic niches and regulates energy flow between primary producers and fish. LÄS MER
