  1. 1. Effects of surfactant adjuvants on plant leaf cuticle barrier properties

    Författare :Anton Fagerström; Malmö högskola; []
    Nyckelord :Adjuvant; Surfacant; Cuticle; Tebuconazole; Diffusion; Clivia miniata Regel leaf; Model wax; Phase diagram; Hydration; Eutectic melting; Crystalline domains; Softening; Wax film; Quartz Crystal Microbalance with dissipation QCM-D ; Differential Scanning Calorimetry DSC ; Small- and Wide-angle X-ray Diffraction SWAXD ;

    Sammanfattning : I avhandlingen undersöks växelverkan mellan det yttersta lagret på växters blad (cutikeln), aktiva substanser, och ämnen som tillsätts för att öka bekämpningsmedlens effekt, i detta fall vissa former av tensider. Barriären som hindrar upptag av främmande ämnen i växten sitter i cutikeln. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Exceptional fossil preservation: implications for palaeobiology and taphonomy

    Författare :Miriam Heingård; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; exceptional preservation; molecular palaeontology; palaeobiology; taphonomy; braincase; cuticle; fish larvae; Fur Formation; Stolleklint Clay; melanin; systematics;

    Sammanfattning : Although fossils are relatively common in some sedimentary deposits, the majority consists of fragmented or distorted skeletal hard parts (such as shell and bones). However, in rare cases, special burial and diagenetic conditions have allowed a greater portion of the original anatomy to be incorporated into the fossil record. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Seeing the invisible: Evolution of wing interference patterns in Hymenoptera, and their application in taxonomy

    Författare :Ekaterina Shevtsova; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chalcidoidea; parasitic wasps; structural colors; visual signaling; cryptic species; sexual dimorphism; wing membrane thickness; wing micro-morphology; wing cuticle ultrastructure;

    Sammanfattning : The remarkably thin transparent wing membranes in tiny wasps may appear to have a simple structural design, but hide a largely unexplored complex of micro-morphological features that serve aerodynamics and may also function in visual signaling. I found that when such small transparent wings are viewed against a dark background they display vivid structural color patterns due to thin film interference, and named them Wing Interference Patterns (WIPs). 4. 4. Plant lipid transfer proteins : Evolution, expression and function

    Författare :Monika Edstam; Johan Edqvist; Kristina Blomqvist; Jenny Hagenblad; Frederica Theodoulou; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The plant non-specific lipid transfer proteins (nsLTPs) are known for the ability to transfer different lipids in vitro, but their in vivo functions have not yet been elucidated. They seem to play a role in the defense against biotic and abiotic stresses; the gene expression of nsLTPs is often upregulated when exposed to stresses. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Extracellular serine proteases as virulence factors in nematophagous fungi: Molecular characterization and functional analysis of the PII protease in Arthrobotrys oligospora

    Författare :Johan Åhman; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; Aspergillus niger.; Heterologous expression; Over-expression; Gene-disruption; Transformation system; Serine protease; Biological control; Arthrobotrys oligospora; Fungi; Nematophagous; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : Nematophagous fungi are parasites of nematodes, thus they have been considered and tested for biological control of parasitic nematodes, but so far with limited success. Due to the fact that the nematode cuticle is composed of proteins it is likely that fungal extracellular proteases are involved in the infection of nematodes. LÄS MER
