11. Modeling of Spray Formation and Development in OpenFOAM with Application to Diesel and Alcohol Fuels
Sammanfattning : Legislation with reagards to fuel emissions are becoming more stringent. This creates a need for improved engine concepts and fuels. This work is part of an ongoin project to create a concept for a direct injection dual fuel engine, which uses alcohol as main fuel and diesel as a pilot. LÄS MER
12. CFD Modeling of Turbulent Flows in Industrial Applications with Emphasis on Premixed Combustion in Gas Turbines
Sammanfattning : Increasing restrictions on hazardous emissions combined with demands for good profitability from the operators in the energy market have contributed strongly to the development of innovations in which the emphasis is on low emissions and high efficiency. For gas turbine-based power plants, emission of NOx in particular is governed by stringent legislation. LÄS MER
13. Modelling of Multicomponent Fuel Sprays
Sammanfattning : The use of fuel blends (conventional fuels blended with renewable ones) has gained importance in the automotive industry as an option to reduce emissions and dependence on fossil fuels. In order to make the fuel blends commercially viable, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is used to complement the experiments (done on engines or spray chambers) by providing fundamental insight into spray formation. 14. Biodiesel Spray Combustion Modeling Based on a Detailed Chemistry Approach
Sammanfattning : Replacing conventional diesel fuels with biodiesel has the potential to drastically reduce engine-out emissions of soot, carbon monoxide, and total unburnt hydrocarbons, at the cost of slightly increased nitrogen oxide emissions. However, to realize the full benefits of using biofuels in this way, there is a need for theoretical models describing their combustion in internal combustion engines. LÄS MER
15. Pressurized entrained-flow high temperature black liquor gasification : CFD based reactor scale-up method and spray burner characterization
Sammanfattning : Black liquor is an important by-product in the chemical kraft pulping process, which provides the paper mill with pulp. Due to both economical and environmental protection driving forces it is important to recover the pulping chemicals and energy contained in the black liquor. LÄS MER
