  1. 1. Functional Studies of Telomere-Binding Proteins in Saccharomyces castellii

    Författare :Jenny Rhodin; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Rap1; DNA-binding domain; telomere evolution; Cdc13; telomerase; single-stranded overhang; telomere; yeast; Naumovia castellii; Saccharomyces castellii;

    Sammanfattning : Telomeres are the ends of linear eukaryotic chromosomes. The telomeres are essential for solving the end replication problem and they stabilize the genome by protection from degradation. The telomeres also protect the chromosomal ends from by being recognized as DNA breaks by the repair machinery, which could lead to end-to-end fusions. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The maintenance of telomeres in the budding yeast Naumovozyma castellii

    Författare :Humberto Itriago; Molekylär cellbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Telomere; Telomere dynamics; Telomere-Binding Proteins; Cdc13; Rap1; RAD52; Rad51; Homologous recombination; ALT; Budding yeast; Naumovozyma castellii;

    Sammanfattning : Linear chromosomes of eukaryotic cells require the presence of functional nucleoprotein terminal structures, known as telomeres, to protect the integrity of the genome. The telomere is a highly dynamic and regulated structure constituted by short tandem DNA repeats rich in guanine nucleotides that extent as double-stranded DNA ending in a single-stranded 3′ overhang. 3. 3. Saccharomyces castellii: A new model organism for telomere research

    Författare :Eimantas Astromskas; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Naumovia castellii; Saccharomyces castellii; yeast; genetic tools; gene targeting; telomere; CDC13.; telomeric overhang;

    Sammanfattning : Telomeres are natural ends of eukaryotic chromosomes and perform a major role in cell biology. They protect chromosomes from degradation, fusions and the end replication problem. To study telomeres different model organisms are used including a number of yeast species. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The telomere binding proteins in yeast and their role in telomere maintenance

    Författare :Cecilia Gustafsson; Molekylär cellbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Telomeres are the end-structures of linear chromosome which are crucial for maintaining genome integrity. The telomeres prevent the DNA-repair machinery from recognizing the chromosome ends as double-strand breaks and from end-to-end fusions. LÄS MER
