1. ALD Buffer Layer Growth and Interface Formation on Cu(In,Ga)Se2 Solar Cell Absorbers
Sammanfattning : Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS) thin film solar cells contain a thin layer of CdS. To avoid toxic heavy-metal-containing waste in the module production the development of a cadmium-free buffer layer is desirable. This thesis considers alternative Cd-free buffer materials deposited by Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD). LÄS MER
2. Cadmium Free Buffer Layers and the Influence of their Material Properties on the Performance of Cu(In,Ga)Se2 Solar Cells
Sammanfattning : CdS is conventionally used as a buffer layer in Cu(In,Ga)Se2, CIGS, solar cells. The aim of this thesis is to substitute CdS with cadmium-free, more transparent and environmentally benign alternative buffer layers and to analyze how the material properties of alternative layers affect the solar cell performance. 3. Window Layer Structures for Chalcopyrite Thin-Film Solar Cells
Sammanfattning : This thesis aims to contribute to the development of improved window layer structures for chalcopyrite thin-film solar cells, with an emphasis on the buffer layer, to assist future reductions of the levelized cost of energy. This is realized by exploring the potential of existing materials and deposition processes, as well as developing new buffer layer processes based on atomic layer deposition (ALD). LÄS MER
4. Molecular beam epitaxy growth and characterization of GaN, AlN and AlGaN/GaN heterostructures
Sammanfattning : The III-nitride materials, consisting of Al, Ga, In and N, have several physical properties that make them attractive for semiconductor devices in electronic and optic applications. A wide range of direct energy bandgaps (0.7 eV - 6.1 eV) can be obtained. LÄS MER
5. Interfacial Properties of Film Forming Proteins and their Layer-by-Layer Assembly with Nanoparticles
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis work was to investigate the interfacial properties of film forming proteins, stability of the layers created by them, and their interactions with nanoparticles. Mussel adhesive protein (Mefp-1) and hydrophobins (HFBI and HFBII) were the three main proteins used. LÄS MER
