2. Quantitative equilibrium calculations on systems with relevance to copper smelting and converting
Sammanfattning : The present thesis gives a summary of results obtained through theoretical and experimental studies of systems with relevance to copper smelting and converting. Many chemical elements are involved in the copper production processes and a detailed experimental study would be very time- consuming and expensive. 3. Fibre flow mechanisms
Sammanfattning : The flow behaviour, and primarily the floc-floc interaction, of pulp paper suspensions have been studied visually. Analogy models based on these observations have been developed as well as the identification of important parameters of floc break-up in low shear rate flow fields. LÄS MER
4. Bio-coal as an alternative reducing agent in the blast furnace
Sammanfattning : The steel industry is aiming to reduce CO2 emissions by different means; in the short-term, by replacing fossil coal with highly reactive carbonaceous material like bio-coal (pretreated biomass) and, in the longer term, by using hydrogen. The use of bio-coal as part of top charged briquettes also containing iron oxide has the potential to lower the thermal reserve zone temperature of the Blast furnace (BF) and, due to improved gas efficiency, thereby give a high replacement ratio to coke. 5. Influence of the properties of bio-coal as a substitute for fossil coal in carbon composite agglomerates and in coke
Sammanfattning : The iron-ore-based blast furnace (BF) process is still the most dominant method for producing metallic iron units for steelmaking, and the BF is also the main contributor to the 7-9% of global CO2 emissions which, according to World Steel Association, originate from the steel industry. The steel industry is aiming to reduce CO2 emissions by different means. LÄS MER
