1. Bleeding in abdominal aortic aneurysm repair
Sammanfattning : Background and aims: Massive bleeding in open abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) repair is associated with worse outcome. However, few studies have investigated specific problems related to perioperative bleeding and blood transfusion in elective or emergent AAA repair with open (OR) or endovascular (EVAR) aneurysm repair. 2. Platelet Inhibition and Bleeding Complications in Cardiac Surgery Patients - Clinical and experimental studies
Sammanfattning : BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE Dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) with acetylsalicylic acid and a P2Y12 inhibitor (clopidogrel, ticagrelor, or prasugrel) reduces thrombotic events in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS), but it is also associated with an increased risk of bleeding complications. The aim of this project was to investigate the prevalence and effects of platelet inhibition in the context of cardiac surgery, the bleeding problems that may occur, and treatment of bleeding complications. 3. Colonoscopy : Introduction and development, completion rates, complications and cancer detection
Sammanfattning : In a population-based study in the county of Södermanland, 6066 colonoscopies performed in 4304 patients from 1979 to 1995 inclusive were evaluated. As indications, bleeding increased and polyps and unclear x-ray findings decreased. Surveillance (cancer, polyps, colitis) was fairly stable. LÄS MER
4. Crosstalk between Inflammation and Coagulation in Acute Pancreatitis - Experimental and Clinical Studies
Sammanfattning : In various inflammatory conditions a close interplay between inflammation and coagulation is known to exist, where coagulation factor VII (FVII) and tissue factor (TF) are considered to be pivotal players. In this thesis the crosstalk between inflammation and coagulation in acute pancreatitis (AP) has been investigated. LÄS MER
5. Fibrinogen and Bleeding in Cardiac Surgery: Clinical Studies in Coronary Artery Bypass Patients
Sammanfattning : Fibrinogen and Bleeding in Cardiac Surgery: Clinical Studies in Coronary Artery Bypass Patients Background: Cardiac surgery is accompanied by inflammatory activation and bleeding complications. Fibrinogen is a key factor in the coagulation cascade and can be used to treat ongoing bleeding, but is not well studied as prophylactic treatment to prevent bleeding in patients with normal plasma fibrinogen levels or as a predictive tool to identify patients with increased bleeding risk.
