    Sammanfattning : Inverse problems arise in any scientific endeavor. Indeed, it is seldom the case that our senses or basic instruments, i.e., the data, provide the answer we seek. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Group-Sparse Regression : With Applications in Spectral Analysis and Audio Signal Processing

    Författare :Ted Kronvall; Statistical Signal Processing Group; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sparse regression; group-sparsity; statistical modeling; regularization; hyperparameter-selection; spectral analysis; audio signal processing; classification; localization; multi-pitch estimation; chroma; convex optimization; ADMM; cyclic coordinate descent; proximal gradient;

    Sammanfattning : This doctorate thesis focuses on sparse regression, a statistical modeling tool for selecting valuable predictors in underdetermined linear models. By imposing different constraints on the structure of the variable vector in the regression problem, one obtains estimates which have sparse supports, i.e. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The PET sampling puzzle : intelligent data sampling methods for positron emission tomography

    Författare :Klara Leffler; Jun Yu; Ida Häggström; Zhiyong Zhou; Saikat Chatterjee; Umeå universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Much like a backwards computed Sudoku puzzle, starting from the completed number grid and working ones way down to a partially completed grid without damaging the route back to the full unique solution, this thesis tackles the challenges behind setting up a number puzzle in the context of biomedical imaging. By leveraging sparse signal processing theory, we study the means of practical undersampling of positron emission tomography (PET) measurements, an imaging modality in nuclear medicine that visualises functional processes within the body using radioactive tracers. 4. 4. Statistical inference and time-frequency estimation for non-stationary signal classification

    Författare :Rachele Anderson; Statistical Signal Processing Group; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Non-stationary processes; stochastic modeling; inference; spectral analysis; time-frequency analysis; classification; biomedical applications; deep learning;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on statistical methods for non-stationary signals. The methods considered or developed address problems of stochastic modeling, inference, spectral analysis, time-frequency analysis, and deep learning for classification. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Processing of the Phonocardiographic Signal : methods for the intelligent stethoscope

    Författare :Christer Ahlström; Per Ask; Leif Sörnmo; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Bioacoustics; phonocardiographic; signal processing; heart sound; lung sound; nonlinear dynamics; Medical technology; Medicinsk teknik;

    Sammanfattning : Phonocardiographic signals contain bioacoustic information reflecting the operation of the heart. Normally there are two heart sounds, and additional sounds indicate disease. If a third heart sound is present it could be a sign of heart failure whereas a murmur indicates defective valves or an orifice in the septal wall. LÄS MER
