  1. 1. Diversity Underfoot : Systematics and Biogeography of the Dictyostelid Social Amoebae

    Författare :Allison L Perrigo; Sandra Baldauf; Maria Romeralo; David Bass; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Amoeba; biogeography; cryptic species; dictyostelid; latitudinal gradient; multicellularity; protist; social amoeba; phylogenetics; systematics; new species; Biology with specialization in Systematics; Biologi med inriktning mot systematik;

    Sammanfattning : Dictyostelids (Amoebozoa) are a group of social amoebae consisting of approximately 150 species, which are found in terrestrial habitats worldwide. They are divided into eight major clades based on molecular phylogeny, and within these clades are many species complexes. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Genomic and morphological diversity of marine planktonic diatom-diazotroph associations : a continuum of integration and diversification through geological time

    Författare :Andrea Caputo; Rachel Ann Foster; Monika Quinones Winder; Ramon Massana; Stockholms universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Symbioses between eukaryotes and nitrogen (N2)-fixing cyanobacteria (or diazotrophs) are quite common in the plankton community. A few genera of diatoms (Bacillariophyceae) such as Rhizosolenia, Hemiaulus and Chaetoceros are well known to form symbioses with the heterocystous diazotrophic cyanobacteria Richelia intracellularis and Calothrix rhizosoleniae.     Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Alpha-diversity; Beta-diversity; Biological pest control; Canopy cover; Connectivity; Ecosystem function; Fleshy fruits; Forest edge; Forest management; Forest specialist species; Fragmentation; Functional diversity; Gamma-diversity; Grassland specialist species; Green infrastructure; Habitat amount hypothesis; Island biogeography; Midfield islets; Plant diversity; Plant-pollinator interaction; Pollination; Remnant habitat; Seed predation; Small habitats; Species richness; Structural heterogeneity; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : The world-wide intensification of agriculture has led to a decline in species richness due to land use change, isolation, and fragmentation of natural and semi-natural habitats in agricultural and forestry landscapes. As a consequence, there is a current landscape management focus on the importance of green infrastructure to mitigate biodiversity decline and preserve ecosystem functions e. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Exploring the species boundaries in terrestrial clitellates (Annelida: Clitellata)

    Författare :Svante Martinsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Oligochaeta; species delimitation; Clitellata; Annelida; DNA-barcoding; cryptic species; Enchytraeidae; Lumbricidae; Naididae;

    Sammanfattning : The biological diversity in the soil is much higher than most people can imagine, and a very important group of animals living there are earthworms and other clitellate worms. It has been found that several clitellate morphospecies are in fact complexes of so called cryptic species, and the number of species in this group may be much higher than previously believed. 5. 5. Patterns and Processes of Evolution in Sundaland

    Författare :Robert-Jan den Tex; Jennifer A. Leonard; Lawrence R. Heaney; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; Biologi; Systematics and phylogenetics; Systematik och fylogeni; Genetics; Genetik; Biology with specialization in Evolutionary Genetics; Biologi med inriktning mot evolutionär genetik;

    Sammanfattning : Biodiversity in the tropics is disproportionately high compared to other habitats, and also under disproportionate threat from human impact. It is necessary to understand how this diversity evolved and how it is partitioned across space in order to preserve it. LÄS MER
