  1. 1. Formation mechanism of anionic-surfactant-templated mesoporous silica (AMS)

    Författare :Chuanbo Gao; Osamu Terasaki; Anders Palmqvist; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mesoporous silica; anionic surfactant; formation mechanism; structural control; Chemistry; Kemi; Structural Chemistry; strukturkemi;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation is focused on synthesis, characterization and formation mechanism of anionic-surfactant-templated mesoporous silica (AMS). Structural control mechanisms of AMS are investigated. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Complement in Disease - Extracellular Proteins as Complement Regulators

    Författare :Kaisa Happonen; Malmö Proteinkemi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; rheumatoid arthritis; joint disease; Complement; proteoglycan; cancer;

    Sammanfattning : Complement activation occurs during inflammatory joint diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and is thought to contribute to the chronic inflammation observed within the joints. Previous studies have shown that certain cartilage components of the small leucine-rich repeat protein (SLRP)-family regulate complement activity, thereby possibly contributing to disease progression. 3. 3. The use of monogenic disease to study basal and disease associated mechanisms with focus on NGF dependent pain insensitivity and ISCU myopathy

    Författare :Elin Larsson; Monica Holmberg; Geoff Woods; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; monogenic; disease; NGF; receptor; pain insensitivity; ISCU; myopathy; splicing; molecular medicine medical sciences ; molekylär medicin medicinska vetenskaper ;

    Sammanfattning : Monogenic diseases make excellent models for the study of gene functions and basal cellular mechanisms in humans. The aim of this thesis was to elucidate how genetic mutations affect the basal cellular mechanisms in the monogenic diseases Nerve growth factor (NGF) dependent pain insensitivity and Iron-Sulphur cluster assembly protein U (ISCU) myopathy. 4. 4. Models and biomarkers of motor and neuropsychiatric complications in Parkinson’s disease

    Författare :Katrine Skovgård; Basala gangliernas patofysiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Parkinson s disease Parkinsonism; Dyskinesia; Drug-Induced; Oscillations; Local field potentials; Impulsive-compulsive behaviours; Dopamine agonists; Animal Models; Pharmacology;

    Sammanfattning : Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterised by typicalmotor symptoms that are caused by severe dopamine depletion in the cortico-basalganglia network. Parkinsonian motor symptoms are improved by dopaminergicmedications, the most effective being the dopamine precursor L-DOPA. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Alcohol use disorder (AUD) is a complex disorder with multiple pathophysiological processes contributing to the initiation, progression and development of the disease state. AUD is a chronic relapsing disease with escalation of alcohol-intake over time in repeated cycles of tolerance, abstinence and relapse and hence, it is very difficult to treat. LÄS MER
