21. A Longitudinal Study of Asthma : Risk Factors and Prognosis
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to identify risk factors for the onset of adult asthma. Other objectives were to study determinants of smoking habits and the association between sensitization and outcome of asthma. In 1990, a questionnaire was distributed to 12,732 individuals from three age groups (16, 30-39 and 60-69 years) in two counties of Sweden. LÄS MER
22. Long-term consequences of vaginal delivery on the pelvic floor. A comparison with caesarean section in one-para women
Sammanfattning : Abstract Long-term consequences of vaginal delivery on the pelvic floor: A comparison with caesarean section in one-parae women Urinary incontinence (UI), symptomatic pelvic organ prolapse (sPOP), and faecal and anal incontinence (FI and AI) are the three major sequelae of childbirth. It has as yet not been finally settled whether in the long term vaginal delivery (VD) is detrimental to pelvic floor function in comparison to caesarean section (CS). LÄS MER

24. Development of cardiovascular disease risk in middle-aged men. The Cardiovascular Risk Factor Study in Southern Sweden, CRISS
Sammanfattning : The Cardiovascular Risk Factor Study in Southern Sweden, CRISS, was initiated to explore if men at increased risk at developing CVD risk factors can be identified already before age 40. Starting in 1990 two birth cohorts of men residing in Helsingborg, Sweden, were surveyed at age 37 (n=991, participation rate 68%), at age 40 (n=770) and age 43 (n=702), respectively. LÄS MER
25. Development of highly biocompatible neuro-electronic interfaces towards monitoring authentic neuronal signaling in the brain
Sammanfattning : Background: To understand how the neuronal circuits in the brain process information there is a need for novelneuro-electronic interfaces that can interact chronically with brain tissue with minimal disturbance of thephysiological conditions in the tissue, in awake and freely moving animals. For this, there is a need for implantableneuro-electronic interfaces that are mechanically compliant with the tissue and that can remain positionally stablewith respect to the neurons, despite the continuous micromotions in the brain.
