1. FPGA-based Instrumentation for Advanced Physics Experiments
Sammanfattning : Modern physical experiments often demand advanced instrumentation based on advances in technology. This work describes four instrumentation physics projects that are based on modern, high-capacity Field-Programmable Gate Arrays, making use of their versatility, programmability, high bandwidth communication interfaces and signal processing capabilities. 2. Instrumentation, Control and Automation in Anaerobic Digestion
Sammanfattning : Anaerobic digestion (AD) is a biochemical process in nature. It has been used to decompose organic waste in order to reduce environmental pollution, and to destroy pathogenic microorganisms for the protection of human and animal health. The process itself produces methane, which can then be used as an energy source. LÄS MER
3. Advanced all-fiber optofluidic devices
Sammanfattning : Significant technological advances of the last years have been possible by developments in Optofluidics, which is a field that deals with the integration of optics and microfluidics into single devices. The work described in this thesis is based on five scientific publications related to the use of fiber optic technology to build integrated optofluidic devices. 4. Digital measurement and control of microwave quantum circuits
Sammanfattning : Superconducting circuits are well established tools for quantum sensing anda promising new platform for quantum computing. Typically these quantumcircuits operate at microwave frequencies where the thermal noise at 10mK in a dilution refrigerator is small compared to the ground-state energy. LÄS MER
5. Studies of the Decay η→π+π-π0 with WASA-at-COSY
Sammanfattning : In 2008 a large statistics sample of approximately 1·107 η-decays has been collected with the WASA detector at COSY using the pd→3Heη reaction at the beam kinetic energy of 1 GeV. These data are being used to study the not so rare η decays involving charged pions, like η→π+π-π0. LÄS MER
