  1. 1. Striatal adenosine A2A receptors

    Författare :Per Svenningsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :caffeine; adenosine; A2A receptors; dopamine receptors; striatum; basal ganglia; immediate early genes; c-fos; NGFI-A; DARPP-32; in situ hybridization;

    Sammanfattning : The nucleoside adenosine exerts a modulatory action in the central nervous system by activating G-protein coupled receptors. Four such receptors are cloned and pharmacologically characterized: A1, A2A, A2B and A3. Caffeine, the most widely consumed psychostimulant, acts as an adenosine receptor antagonist predominantly on the first two. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The mast cell transcriptome and the evolution of granule proteins and Fc receptors

    Författare :Srinivas Akula; Lars Hellman; Sandra Kleinau; Arne Egesten; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mast cell; Fc receptors; Granule serine protease; Evolution and transcriptome.; Immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Protection against disease-causing pathogens, known as immunity, involves numerous cells organs, tissues and their products. To able to understand the biology of immune cells (hematopoietic cells) and their role in an immune system, we have used several different methods, including transcriptome analyses, bioinformatics, production of recombinant proteins and analyses of some of them, focusing on the granule proteases by substrate phage display. 3. 3. Orexin Receptors in Recombinant CHO Cells : Signaling to Short- and Long-Term Cell Responses

    Författare :Sylwia Ammoun; Jyrki Kukkonen; Karl Åkerman; Gunnar Flemström; Christer Larsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurosciences; orexins; cell signaling; Neurovetenskap; Neurology; Neurologi;

    Sammanfattning : Recently discovered neuropeptides orexins (orexin-A and -B) act as endogenous ligands for G-protein-coupled receptors called OX1 and OX2 receptors. Our previous studies have established model systems for investigation of the pharmacology and signaling of these receptors in recombinant CHO cells. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Fcγ-receptors in systemic autoimmune conditions : lessons from murine mercury-induced autoimmunity

    Författare :Klara Martinsson; Per Hultman; Karin Cederbrant; Johan Rönnelid; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis we investigated the role of activating (FcγRI, FcγRIII) and inhibitory (FcγRIIB) Fcγ-receptors on systemic autoimmunity using two mouse strains, DBA/1 (H-2q) and BALB/c mice (H-2d), susceptible to induction of autoimmunity by mercury (Hg).Fc-receptors for IgG (FcγR) link cellular and humoral immune responses, control the balance between activating and inhibitory immune responses and are important in the development of several autoimmune diseases. 5. 5. Alcohol and gene expression in nerve cells with emphasis on transcription factor AP-1

    Författare :Ulrik Fried; Institutionen för laboratoriemedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nerve cells; SH-SY5Y; muscarinic receptors; MAPKs; PKC; gene expression; jun; Activating Protein-1; Alcohol; ethanol; CRABP-I; Clinical chemistry; Klinisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Alcohol induces profound effects on the function of the nerve cells in the nervous system. Alterations in gene expression is an important way by which these effects could be induced and sustained. Activating Protein-1 (AP-1) is a dimeric transcription factor constituted of proteins from the fos and jun immediate-early gene families. LÄS MER
