16. Verticillium longisporum and plant immunity responses in Arabidopsis
Sammanfattning : Verticillium spp. are soil-borne ascomycete fungi belonging to a subgroup of Sordariomycetes, and the three major plant pathogens Verticillium longisporum, V. dahliae and V. albo-atrum cause disease on numerous plant species worldwide. LÄS MER
17. Decoding the language of transmission among vector-pathogen-host
Sammanfattning : Vector-borne diseases account for over 17 percent of all infectious diseases and lead to more than 700,000 mortalities annually. Importantly, there is a complex interaction between infectious organisms and their host. LÄS MER
18. Trust, identity and beer : institutional arrangements for agricultural labour in Isunga village in Kiryandongo district, midwestern Uganda
Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the role and influence of institutions on agricultural labour transactions in Isunga village in Kiryandongo District, Midwestern Uganda. It primarily focuses on how farmers structure, maintain and enforce their labour relationships during crop farming. LÄS MER
19. Novel insights into the action of SHI/STY transcriptional regulators during plant development
Sammanfattning : One key player in plant organogenesis is the phytohormone auxin, and this thesis reveal that members of the SHI/STY gene family participate in the regulation of auxin homeostasis and organ development in Arabidopsis thaliana. Using inducible constructs, ChIP, and EMSA, we could show that the SHI/STY members act as transcriptional activators directly binding to the promoter of the auxin biosynthesis gene YUC4. LÄS MER
20. Nitrogen use efficiency and related functional traits in wheat : influence of genotype and environment
Sammanfattning : Efficient use of nitrogen (N) is essential to decrease negative impacts of agriculture on the environment. This thesis evaluated the nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) of various wheat varieties, identified traits associated with high NUE and investigated the gene NAM-B1 in relation to some of these traits.
