  1. 1. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease: Role of Alpha-1-antitrypsin

    Författare :Ruta Aldonyte; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Andningsorganen; Respiratory system; monocytes; inflammation; AAT polymerization; AAT; COPD;

    Sammanfattning : The only proven genetic risk factor for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is an inherited Z (Glu342¡úLys) deficiency of alpha-1-antitrypsin (AAT), a major inhibitor of neutrophil elastase. In vivo, AAT is found in both native (inhibitory) and modified (non-inhibitory) forms. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Hydrophobic interactions of serpins

    Författare :Sabina Janciauskiene; Enheten för kroniska inflammatoriska och degenerativa sjukdomar; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Proteiner; enzymology; polymerization.; Proteins; conformational polymorphism; hydrophobic interaction; amyloid fibrils; Alzheimer`s peptide Ab; alpha-1-antichymotrypsin; C-terminal peptide; lithocholic acid; cholesterol; Key words: alpha-1-antitrypsin; bile acids; enzymologi;

    Sammanfattning : The proteins of the serpin family are primarily but not exclusively proteinase inhibitors, which share a common, similar structure. It is known that this structure undergoes major conformational changes upon cleavage in the serpin reactive site loop, and that these changes include rearrangements within the hydrophobic core of the molecule. 3. 3. Severe and moderate alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency at the age of 30

    Författare :Elisabeth Bernspång; allergologi och palliativ medicin Lungmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cohort; screening; alpha-1-antitrypsin; lung function; CT densitometry; liver;

    Sammanfattning : Alpha-1-antitrypsin (AAT) is a glycoprotein synthesised in the liver. Its main role is to protect lung tissue from destruction by neutrophil elastase. In severe (PiZZ) AAT deficiency, there is an increased risk of emphysema, especially in smokers. LÄS MER
