  1. 1. Development and Characterization of a Global Brain Ischemia Model in the Mouse -A Genetic and Pharmacological Approach

    Författare :Tomas Olsson; Neuroinflammation; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neurofysiologi; neuropsykologi; Neurologi; neuropsychology; Neurology; global; hypothermia; hsp70; receptor; adenosine A1; NMDA; cystatin C; cell death; hippocampus; Brain; ischemia; neurophysiology;

    Sammanfattning : Brain ischemia is a major cause of death and morbidity in the industrialized countries. It is mainly caused by stroke, but may also be the consequence of successful cardiopulmonary resuscitation in victims of cardiac arrest, known as transient global ischemia. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Local Purinergic Control of Arteriolar Reactivity in Pancreatic Islets and Renal Glomeruli

    Författare :Xiang Gao; Leif Jansson; Olle Hellberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :afferent arteriole; islet arteriole; adenosine; A1 receptor; ATP; P2Y receptor; microperfusion; angiotensin II; type 2 diabetes; hypertension; oxidative stress; nitric oxide; tubuloglomerular feedback;

    Sammanfattning : Local control of regional blood flow is exerted mainly through the arterioles. An adequate minute-to-minute regulation of blood perfusion of the kidney and the pancreas is obtained by the modulation of arteriolar reactivity, which will influence the organ function. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Adenosine receptor/dopamine receptor interactions : molecular and biochemical aspects

    Författare :Maria Torvinen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Adenosine; adenosine deaminase; A; receptor; A2A receptor; cell line; coimmunoprecipitation; confocal microscopy; dopamine; D1 receptor; D2 receptor; D3 receptor; heteromerization; internalisation; radioligand binding;

    Sammanfattning : The dopamine receptors have been shown to be involved in a variety of higher brain functions, such as motor control, cognition and affective states. Agonist and antagonists of dopamine receptors are widely used to treat disorders such as Parkinson's disease and schizophrenia, respectively. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Behavioural and biochemical pharmacology of adenosine/dopamine receptor/receptor interaction

    Författare :Roberto Rimondini-Giorgini; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Adenosine; A; receptors; A2A receptors; dopamine; D1 receptors; D2 receptors; mGluR receptors; striatum; immediately early genes; c-fos; junB; NGFI-A; microdialysis; receptor binding; in situ hybridisation;

    Sammanfattning : The neurotransmitter dopamine seems to be involved in neuropsychiatric diseases such as schizophrenia and Parkinson's disease. Direct blockade of dopamine receptors of the D2 subtype has been the hallmark of pharmacotherapy for schizophrenia since early 1950s. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Regulation of Mast Cell Survival

    Författare :Christine Möller; Gunnar Nilsson; Alf Grandien; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pathology; mast cell; A1; Bfl-1; Bim; Bcl-2 family members; basophil; SCF; forkhead; survival; Patologi; Pathology; Patologi;

    Sammanfattning : Mast cells are long-lived effector cells of importance for both acute and chronic inflammations. Mast cells can be activated in many different ways, leading to the release of inflammatory mediators. In contrast to most other inflammatory cells, activated mast cells have the capacity to recover, regranulate and thereby be activated again. LÄS MER
