  1. 1. Oxidative damage and the DNA glycosylase MutYH

    Författare :Kristina Jansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Oxidative damage; 8-oxo-7; 8-dihydro-2′-deoxyguanosine; Base excision repair; DNA glycosylase; Mismatch repair; DNA damage checkpoint; 9-1-1 complex; Glutathione-S-transferases; Colon cancer.;

    Sammanfattning : The DNA glycosylase MutYH is highly conserved throughout evolution, and homologs are found in most eukaryotes and prokaryotes examined. MutYH functions as a base excision repair DNA glycosylase that excises adenines misincorporated opposite 8-oxo-7,8-dihydro-2′-deoxyguanosine (8-oxodG), one of the most stable products of oxidative DNA damage. 2. 2. Complex methods of inquiry: structuring uncertainty

    Författare :PETER BEDNAR; Institutionen för informatik; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; information system; Contextual Analysis; Contextual Dependencies; Systems Approaches; Systems Thinking; Organizational change; Complex adaptive systems; Uncertainty management; Organizational Emergence; Change Management; Organizational Learning; Human Activity Systems;

    Sammanfattning : Organizational problem spaces can be viewed as complex, uncertain and ambiguous. They can also be understood as open problem spaces. As such, any engagement with them, and any effort to intervene in order to pursue desirable change, cannot be assumed to be just a matter of ‘complicatedness’. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Mellan civilsamhälle och folkrörelse : Ett aktörsperspektiv på rekrytering och organisering av medborgerligt engagemang

    Författare :Karin Robertsson; Anders Kassman; Maria Eriksson; Susanna Johansson; Ersta Sköndal Bräcke högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Civic engagement; non-profit human service organisations; institutional logics; institutional complexity; Människan i välfärdssamhället; Social välfärd med inriktning mot civilsamhället; The Individual in the Welfare Society; Social Welfare and the Civil Society;

    Sammanfattning : Civic engagement, commonly seen as concerning people's actions and activities,is generally studied at the individual level. In this doctoral thesis the term is used to examine and analyse how recruitment and organisation of civic engagement has developed since the mid-1990s at the organisational level in a Swedish context, as well as the conditions that have influenced and shaped this development. 4. 4. DNA checkpoint override and redox signaling in Schizosaccharomyces pombe

    Författare :Johanna J Sjölander; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Caffeine; Cell cycle; Checkpoint; Cdc25; Wee1; TORC1; FHIT; Proliferation; Aph1; Redox; Hypoxia; H2O2; Cysteine; Thiol; Allosteric; MAPK; Sty1; MAPKK; Wis1;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis covers intracellular stress signaling through genotoxic stress, overriding of checkpoint control, as well as cellular redox status in hypoxic and oxidative stress Papers I and II: Caffeine has been shown to override cell cycle checkpoints in humans as well as in the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe. Understanding of the mechanism may aid in the development of compounds with similar overriding mechanisms for sensitization in cancer therapy. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Experimental studies on xenograft rejection

    Författare :Guosheng Wu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The use of animal organs and tissues may provide a solution to the severe and worsening shortage of human grafts. The aims of the present experimental studies were to provide a better understanding of the rejection mechanisms and give new clues for prevention of xenorejection, thereby hopefully contributing to the development of clinical xenotransplantation.
