  1. 1. Genetic Studies of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis

    Författare :Camilla Friberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :psoriasis; psoriatic arthritis; complex disease; autoimmune disease; linkage analysis; association analysis; PSOR5; 3q21; 5q31-32; SLC22A4; SLC22A5; CSTA; ZNF148; expression;

    Sammanfattning : Psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis are common chronic immune-mediated diseases of the skin and joints. Psoriasis affects approximately 2-3 % of the Caucasian population and about 30 % of all psoriasis patients develop psoriatic arthritis. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Genetic susceptibility to psoriasis in Sweden

    Författare :Fredrik Enlund; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; CD80; CD86; joint complaints; linkage analysis; NPL; psoriasis; TDT; chromosome region 3q21;

    Sammanfattning : A common skin disease affecting about 2-3% of the population, psoriasis has an inheritance pattern that is unclear, but most probably many genes are involved in its pathogenesis. Other studies have suggested many susceptibility regions in the genome, but as yet independent studies have replicated only some of these regions located on chromosome 1q, 6p and 17q. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Chromosome aberrations and environmental exposures in acute leukemia

    Författare :Ragnhild Rosengren Lindquist; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Acute leukemia; chromosome 3; chromosome 8; fragile site; occupational exposure; mutagen exposure; case-control study; trisomy; benzene; organic solvent; petroleum; epidemiology; environmental carcinogens; painter; driver;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of this thesis are to evaluate the role of environmental exposures, especially professional exposure to organic solvents and petroleum products in the etiology of acute leukemia and to investigate if there is a correlation between the exposure to a specific leukemogen factor and a clonal chromosome aberration of the leukemic cells. Papers I and II present results of a case-control study of environmental exposures, in all occupations during life-time, medical treatments with medicines, chemotherapy and radiation, tobacco-use and the exposure to chemical compounds in private life in 120 patients with acute leukemia and of 120 controls, matched for age (+ 4 years), residence and sex. 4. 4. Monoglyceride Lipase and Hormone-Sensitive Lipase - Molecular and structural aspects

    Författare :Marie Karlsson; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; genomic organisation; baculovirus-insect cells; catalytic triad; alfa beta hydrolase fold; tissue distribution; cDNA sequence; lipolysis; adipocyte; monoglyceride lipase; hormone-sensitive lipase; chromosomal localisation; Clinical biology; Klinisk biologi;

    Sammanfattning : Triglycerides in the adipocyte are hydrolysed by means of three consecutive reactions through the combined action of two lipases: hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL) and monoglyceride lipase (MGL). HSL catalyses the first and rate-limiting step, i.e. LÄS MER

  5. 5. A Clinical and Genetic Study of Psoriatic Arthritis

    Författare :Gerd-Marie Alenius; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Public health; Psoriatic arthritis; prevalence; inflammatory manifestations; genetic loci; HLA; TNFB; Folkhälsomedicin; Public health medicine research areas; Folkhälsomedicinska forskningsområden; Clinical Genetics; klinisk genetik;

    Sammanfattning : Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is an inflammatory joint disease associated with psoriasis. PsA has a heterogeneous pattern, expressed by different manifestations such as mild mono-oligoarthritis or very severe, erosive and destructive polyarthritis. Measurable inflammatory activity is not always prominent. LÄS MER
