  1. 16. Fabrication and Characterization of Aluminum Single Electron Transistors for Scanning Probes

    Författare :Henrik Brenning; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; radio frequency single electron transistor; scanning probe; charging energy; nano fabrication; noise; scanning SET; SET; cantilever; AFM; RC-product; micro mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : The main objective of the work presented in this thesis was to fabricatescanning single electron transistor probes that operate at pumped liquid heliumtemperatures. This required single electron transistors (SETs) with low resistance (R_) and relatively high charging energy (E_C), and the technology tointegrate SETs onto probes. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Nanowire Transistors and RF Circuits for Low-Power Applications

    Författare :Karl-Magnus Persson; Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :InAs; Nanowire; Metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor; MOSFET; RF; Mixer; Circuit; 1 f-noise; Simulation; Modelling;

    Sammanfattning : The background of this thesis is related to the steadily increasing demand of higher bandwidth and lower power consumption for transmitting data. The work aims at demonstrating how new types of structures, at the nanoscale, combined with what is referred to as exotic materials, can help benefit in electronics by lowering the consumed power, possibly by an order of magnitude, compared to the industry standard, silicon (Si), used today. 3. 18. Process development of III-V-based infrared detectors

    Författare :David Ramos Santesmases; Per-Erik Hellström; Sanjay Krishna; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; infrared detectors; Type-II superlattice; surface leakage; high operating temperature; passivation; optical concentration; modulation transfer function; noise.; infraröda detektorer; Typ-II supergitter; ytströmmar; hög arbetstemperatur; passivering; optisk koncentration; moduleringsöverföringsfunktion; brus; Informations- och kommunikationsteknik; Information and Communication Technology;

    Sammanfattning : Type-II Superlattice (T2SL) detectors have revolutionized the field of infraredimaging, establishing themselves as the forefront technology in defense, space,and industrial applications. These detectors enable larger formats and higheroperating temperatures (HOT) that minimize the need for bulky and energyconsumingcryogenic cooling, paving the way for imaging systems with reducedSize, Weight, and Power (SWaP). 4. 19. Enabling technologies for scalable graphene electronics

    Författare :Naveen Shetty; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; edge contact; Hall effect; graphene; 2d-tech; array; 1 f; metrology;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses the challenges in scaling up graphene-based technologies, with a focus on the epitaxial growth of graphene (epigraphene) over SiC substrates and the establishment of reliable low-contact resistance electrical contacts. The scalable graphene growth and contact fabrication have enabled the development of three epigraphene-based devices, including large-scale Quantum Hall Arrays, highly sensitive Hall effect magnetometers with minimal noise, and quantum-limited ultraviolet (UV) detectors. 5. 20. Low Noise Oscillator in ADPLL toward Direct-to-RF All-digital Polar Transmitter

    Författare :Jian Chen; Li-Rong Zheng; Fredrik Jonsson; Hannu Tenhunen; Georges Gielen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; all-digital; digitally-intensive; frequency modualtion; phase modulation; amplitude modulation; polar; transmitter; oscillator; digital controled oscillator; DCO; VCO; voltage controled oscillator; class-C oscillator; class-D PA; ADPLL; phase noise; RF; CMOS.;

    Sammanfattning : In recent years all-digital or digitally-intensive RF transmitters (TX) have attracted great attention in both literature and industry. The motivation is to implement RF circuits in a manner suiting advanced nanometer CMOS processes. To achieve that, information is encoded in the time-domain rather than voltage amplitude. LÄS MER
