Markusevangeliet i Lars Rangius samiska översättning från 1713
Sammanfattning: Lars Rangius translated the New Testament into Ume Saami in 1701–1713. The manuscript, comprising over 1000 pages, was never printed and is kept in The University Library in Uppsala. This study includes a transliteration of the Gospel of St. Mark and a description of the language. The language is studied from a phonological, morphological, syntactic and lexical point of view. An overview of the historical circumstances under which the translation was done is given and an investigation into the life of the translator, Lars Rangius, is also made in order to understand why he made this extensive work.
