Detta är en avhandling från Nordic Academic Press

Sammanfattning: Popular Abstract in English My dissertation is a Swedish history of ideas 1965-2010 as expressed in the best-selling and most influential Swedish police novels and films. The title is "The Cop in the Twilight Land. Swedish Police Narratives in Novels and Film 1965-2010". Here I elaborate on the analysis briefly treated in the essay "Skymningslandet" ("Twilight Land") in the anthology "Solskenslandet (2006). Chapter one walks throught the histories of the genre, of crime and punishment, placing them within a political-historical context. Chapter two outlines a Swedish genre history within the context of the national history of ideas in the 20th century and also finds international parallels. The following chapters discuss, in chronological order: Sjöwall-Wahlöö (Martin Beck; due to their importance they get three chapters, all the others one each), Olov Svedelid (Roland Hassel), Leif GW Persson (Lars M Johansson & Bo Jarnebring), Jan Guillou (Carl Hamilton aka Coq Rouge), Henning Mankell (Kurt Wallander), Håkan Nesser (Van Veeteren), Roslund & Hellström (Ewert Grens), the various film series on Beck, Wallander and Johan Falk, ending the dissertation with chapters on Stieg Larsson (Millennium) and Leif GW Persson's trilogy on Johansson & Jarnebring subtitled "The fall of the welfare state and the murder of a prime minister".
